LANDFILL

Standard Disposal

Disposal may be designated in authorized areas on land or in the ocean after processing for volume reduction by compression or incineration.  Materials for disposal into the ocean are packaged in 55 gallon concrete encased drums and transported to the designated areas about 150 miles out to sea in approximately 7,500 feet of water.  Abandoned salt mines are being seriously considered as a repository for solid wastes containing radioactive materials.

Disadvantage:  This type of disposal is not accessible for control and repair.

Description

KF-αβγ is a light gray powder.  After mixing with water, it provides protection from radiation penetration and liquid impermeability.

KF-αβγ is applicable by both stucco and additive technologies.

KF-αβγ is excellent for use in casting containers for dumping radioactive wastes.

KF-αβγ can be used to form standard containers or by pouring it into unshaped mines and excavations.

The significance of KF-αβγ is its simplicity of application and durability for rock-life years in normal conditions.  The combination of KF-αβγ and KF-B application allows for dumping of radioactive wastes in underwater conditions.

KF-αβγ is a non-toxic, non-flammable and non-explosive powder.  The safety requirements for the use of KF-αβγ is very similar to those used in cement mixing operations.

Landfilling of Radioactive Waste

This is the safest and most economical type of landfill of nuclear wastes, even in industrial areas.  Due to the ability of KF-αβγ to isolate the environment from radiation, we can get inexpensive dumping in shallow excavations under or in the foundation of structures.

Advantages

No longer will the export of nuclear waste be required.

Standard containers can continue to be used – simply fill them with KF-αβγ.

There will no longer be any obstacles to development of infrastructure on land where nuclear dumping has occurred.

KF-αβγ waste containment sites can be accessible for control and repair.

KF-αβγ can be used on both unused and fertile lands.

KF-αβγ, mixed with the concrete and compacted nuclear waste debris is a feasible application for the casting of foundations and anchors.

KF-αβγ is a non-hazardous product, which is harmless during application and is harmless to the environment and infrastructure.
