Kalmatron KF-aby serves a
Humanitarian Purpose and is Environmentally Friendly.
We hope you find a wealth of useful information during your visit and encourage you to contact us with any questions or comments that you may have.
Please note that throughout
the text documents in this website, substitutes have been used for
scientific symbols: a for alpha, b for beta, y for gamma,
etc. In those documents where substitution was impractical,
images have been used in place of text documents. This was
done sparingly so as to decrease loading time. If you should
have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact

Description:
KF-aby is based on dissipation of y-flux energy by the oscillator
phenomenon and the effect of threshold density. KF-aby has
four functional ingredients: an active filler; a passive
filler; a binder; and, a chemically active ingredient.
Protection from radioactivity is instantaneous upon
application. Six hours after application, the surface becomes
waterproof. KF-aby
is capable of providing a viable, cost-effective, environmentally
friendly method of containing radioactivity.
KF-aby is a specially
formulated chemical compound that after mixing with water becomes a
plastic-like dough with a wet density of 3,000 kg/m3.
After application, it becomes a solid and smooth top layer.
Any paint may be applied on the surface of the KF-aby layer.
The period of durability of the KF-aby layer depends upon the source
of energy, the suitability, thickness and weight of the protected
structure. The layer thickness and durability are
hyperbolically related. For instance, a 6mm layer under 50KeV
of y radiation has a calculated warranty of up to 75 years.
Benefits:
KF-aby utilizes the principal of
reflection and does not absorb radiation.
KF-aby will never become a secondary source of radiation.
KF-aby is a safe alternative to the current technology used to
contain radioactive waste.
KF-aby provides resistance to radiation from any source of radiation
in any phase or stage.
KF-aby has the same safety and sanitary requirements for handling,
storage and application as any cementitious product.
KF-aby has the greatest variety of application methods: stucco
application; powder application on contaminated surfaces (strew);
injection; landfill; wellfill; as an admixture to concrete; or, in
the form of KF-aby Blocks.
KF-aby is applicable in both solid and powder conditions.
KF-aby does not need any special preparation of the surface before
application - simply wet the surface with water.
KF-aby is applicable on dry, wet, contaminated and deteriorated surfaces.
KF-aby provides a level of protection that is comparable with lead,
however, KF-aby is more easily applied, is non-toxic, and will
never become a secondary source of radiation.
KF-aby is extremely cost-effective, because a standard stucco
application technology can be used and therefore no additional staff
training is required.
KF-aby does not require any special conditions, uniforms, equipment
or skills for handling, storage or application.
KF-aby is non-toxic, non-explosive and non-flammable.
KF-aby is an effective, non-poisonous solution to the containment of
radioactive materials at a reduced cost.
KF-aby is more workable and less expensive than other current
technology for the restoration of resistance of building structures
against penetration of radiation and deterioration of materials.
Utilization:
Nuclear plants.
Nuclear waste storage sites (wellfill, landfill, underground, etc.).
Isolation of civil buildings, roads, tunnels, bridges, sinkholes,
pipes, tubes, etc.
Deactivation of dust.
Application
& Curing:
Applicable using standard stucco
technology application (using a 5mm to 50mm layer on vertical or
horizontal surfaces).
Applicable on wet, contaminated surfaces.
Applicable as an admixture to concrete.
Applicable as an injection into concrete, soil, mines, masonry and
reinforced concrete structures.
After determining the most effective thickness required by the
particular project, application is simply as follows: add 1
part water to 4 parts KF-aby by volume and mix for one minute;
prepare the surface by soaking with water (for wooden, plastic or
metal structures, use the flat wire net before application); apply
KF-aby mixture; spray the surface with water after 6 hours.
Technical
Data:
Setting time: 10-15 minutes.
Hardening time: 35-50 minutes.
Compressive strength at 28 days: 350kg/cm2; 5000
psi.
Freeze-thaw resistance: up to 350 cycles.
Before any application of KF-aby, it is necessary to determine the
thickness of the KF-aby layer, based upon the source of the
radiation and the level of protection required for the specific
project.
Effectiveness:
Comparative attenuation of radiation by KF-aby with
the same mass of application is:
Higher than concrete by 40%
Higher than polymer-oxide
compounds by 150%
